About the Owner

Greg's career in the health and fitness industry began in 2000. Upon graduating from Churchill High School in Livonia, MI Greg became a Physical Therapy Technician in orthopedics. Realizing quickly that he wished to be a leader for individuals pursuing better health he attained his national certified personal trainer (CPT) certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). At the ripe age of 19 he became the youngest member of the Lifetime Fitness staff in Novi, MI and also worked at the Canton, MI facility where he took a lead in developing other young trainers.  "Working with more than 30 trainers for over a year was probably the best experience I could have had early in my career." With a broadened perspective, Greg entered the Athletic Training program at Eastern Michigan University, transferring to the Physical Education / Health Education Program after one year. A graduate with honors in Health Promotion and Human Performance, Greg attained his bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education. Although he never taught after graduating, Greg reflects, "Attaining a degree in education was a valuable choice for me. I could have taken many paths, but I found a real passion for teaching at EMU." During the following years Greg continued to develop his philosophy on health. He dedicated himself to learning about nutrition, functional training, and running. He began participating in triathlons (right) and rock climbing (left). Rock climbing became a catalyst for travelling the country and Greg now regularly travels for adventure sports.

Following a voluntary one year reprieve from formal education, Greg was accepted to the Oakland University, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. In 2008, he attained the National Academy on Sports Medicine (NASM), Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification and continued on to graduate with the DPT class of 2010 winning awards for his research  on distance running injuries from Oakland University and the Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA).

Greg took his first job as a physical therapist in Brighton, MI and was quickly brought in to South Lyon to run the South Lyon East strength and conditioning program. He attained his High School Strength and Conditioning Specialist (HSSCS) certification and to date, he has designed programs for football, baseball, soccer, softball, wrestling, lacrosse, basketball and cross-country. He is currently a practicing Physical Therapist at ATI Physical Therapy in Plymouth, MI at the Barwis Methods Training Facility and the Strength and Conditioning Coach at South Lyon East High School where he is the head strength coach for the Baseball and Softball teams.
