"PT" stands for more than just physical therapy at Moore Performance Health

What is performance therapy?

A.

Have you ever had PT and felt like you did the same thing over and over? There are thousands of variations of exercises and it shouldn’t feel so monotonous or repetitive. “Performance therapy” is not like that kind of physical therapy. Your sessions will be tailored specifically to the movements, tasks, and physical objectives that you seek to master in order to live your best, most fulfilling life.  This means that you won’t just get the same exercise every time you go to PT, or the same exercise that everybody else in the clinic has had. Performance therapy is personalized, engaging, and energizing!

B.

Performance Therapy is what you might think you would get if your physical therapist was also a personal trainer and a college strength and conditioning coach, which he is! Where other therapists might think you are “done” with PT, I reassess regularly and find any weaknesses or deficits that still exist and strive to return you to as good, or better, than you were before you had an injury. Who knows, maybe one of those deficits is why you got injured in the first place. I aim to remedy that, too.

C.

Performance Therapy is how Greg will use your time in MPH Studio to determine how you move, and how you can move better, then tailor a specific movement plan to your needs, and set you up for what you need to do at home. The rest of the time is spent on high-quality manual therapy that supports those movement goals and that you cannot do on your own.

D.

Performance Therapy is something gimmicky Greg came up with so Moore Performance Health could sound cool. (But it is still true!)

Active Release Tecniques

ART

Highly effective for managing soft tissue disorders. This technique involves the therapist using their hands to apply precise pressure and tension to break up adhesions and scar tissue. ART can improve flexibility, strength, and range of motion, and it is a specialized skill that only a few physical therapists possess.

Trigger Point Dry Needling

TPDN

Helps alleviate muscle pain and tension by inserting fine needles into specific trigger points. This technique promotes healing by releasing tight muscle bands and increasing blood flow to the affected area. As a result, patients often experience reduced pain and improved muscle function.

Muscle Energy Techinuqes

MET

Involve the patient actively using their muscles while the therapist applies a counterforce. This technique helps improve joint mobility, reduce muscle stiffness, and enhance overall flexibility. MET is particularly effective for treating musculoskeletal conditions and restoring normal movement patterns.

Joint Mobilization
& Manipulation

This technique involves the therapist applying controlled movements to a joint to increase its range of motion and decrease pain. This technique can help restore normal joint function, reduce stiffness, and improve overall mobility. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with joint restrictions or dysfunctions.

Selective Functional Movement Assessment

SFMA

A comprehensive evaluation system used to identify dysfunctional movement patterns. This assessment helps therapists pinpoint the root cause of pain and movement limitations, allowing for a more targeted and effective treatment plan. SFMA is valuable for optimizing movement and preventing injuries.

Functional Massage

Functional Massage combines traditional massage techniques with movement-based approaches to target specific muscles and improve their function. This technique helps enhance muscle flexibility, reduce pain, and improve overall movement efficiency. Functional Massage is tailored to the individual's needs and can be particularly effective for athletes and active individuals.

Functional  Movement Screening

FMS

Screening tool used to assess seven fundamental movement patterns in individuals without current pain or injury. The FMS identifies movement deficiencies and asymmetries that may increase the risk of injury. By addressing these issues, FMS helps improve overall movement quality and performance.

Concierge Physical Therapy

Quality Over Quantity

Our concierge PT model focuses on tailoring each visit to your unique needs.
